(okay, just for the record I'm only doing this because it's after 10pm and I'm laying here in our hotel room still awake while everyone else is asleep.....my quiz is going to SUCK because I pretty much had a loser high school life since I wasted it away with Moron aka Matt aka my ex)!

1. Who were your best friends? My best friend has always, always been Tia, but we weren't ever in the same grade....so the group I hung around with that were my good friends in high school were Joan, Melissa, and Kristie.
2. What sports did you play? None
3. What kind of car did you drive? didn't have one I got to walk to school...fun!
4. On a Friday nights what were you doing? football games and hanging out at Moron's house afterward.
5. Were you a party animal? ha ha, no sure wasn't.
6. Were you considered a flirt? nope, I couldn't be or I'd for sure get in trouble with Moron....or at least in my warped mind I thought so.
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? no

8. Were you a nerd? no
9. Did you get suspended/expelled? nope

10. Can you still sing the fight song? don't know it now, and I don't think I ever have known it?
11. Who was your favorite teacher? hands down, Mr. Madril (biology)
12. Where did you sit during lunch? never stayed on campus.

13. Name the school full name? Mesa High School
14. School mascot? Jackrabbit
15. School Colors? purple and gold
16. Rival high school? Mt View mostly, but Westwood as well.
17. Did you go to Prom? yes, both junior and senior year with Moron, ugh!
18. If you could go back and do it again, would you? definitely! Only because I wasted most of it with Moron. I would go back and have way more fun with my girlfriends and dating around and just having fun and being carefree.

19. What do you remember most about graduation? It was freakin hot! lol Went to Big Surf for grad night.
20. Where did you go senior skip day? we didn't have one?
21. Favorite memory? definitely my sophomore year before I met Moron and hung out with Codie, Joan, Melissa, Kristie, Donae, Haley, Tiffany etc. I remember driving in Codie's old Honda accord and jamming out to tunes! OR in Donae's 'burb all packed in "crusing" Mill! LOL...we had some fun times. Wow, I wasted a lot of those could have been more fun times haning out with Moron! regrets, regrets.
22. Were you in any clubs? nada.
23. Where did you go most often for lunch? McDonalds, Taco Bell or Neds although sophomore year I remember sometimes going to a friends house for lunch. Wow, I ate out just about everyday and still managed to stay sooo skinny back then. Those were the days!
24. Have you gained some weight since then? hmmmm, yah pretty much!
25. Who was your Senior prom date? who do you think!? Moron, sadly.
26. Are you planning on going to your 10-year reunion? Nope, didn't attend.
27. Who was your home room teacher? didn't have home room.
28. Who will re-post this after you? Dendi?

29. Who was your high school sweetheart? HA HA....I guess back then I could have said Moron since I "thought" I was in love, AND he was the ONLY guy I dated all through high school....what a loser I was!
30. Do you still talk to people from high school? I sure do! In fact, the ones I don't "talk" to I have found a lot of them on here through blogging! Fun.
31.Did you win prom queen or king? ha ha, no. Remember I was a loser?!
32. Where did you work in high school? Comet 1hr Cleaners.
33. what were your grades? A's and B's.
34. What was your dress style? daisy duke shorts (yikes! but hey I did have the body for them back then) or jeans and t-shirts. Omg, and I actually wore Nike hightops!!! LOL
35. What year did you graduate? 1995
BTW, does anyone else have reoccuring dreams about high school!????

Cali here we come!

Tomorrow we are heading out on our mini getaway to San Diego for the long weekend AND to celebrate the big 3-0 for Melanie! Totally excited. This is a much needed vacay. We will hit the SD Zoo either Saturday or Sunday, haven't quite decided yet, and which ever day we don't go to the zoo we are taking the kiddos to hang out at the beach. Jaden is super excited to build sandcastles like Curious George did on today's episode! He cannot wait. I was lucky enough to find some clearanced pales and shovels and such for this trip at Walmart the other day. Go Walmart! I originally tried Target but had no such luck there....all the summer clearance stuff was long gone. Then on the other days where we don't have a whole day to spend we'll go walk around Seaport Village or Horton Plaza or Balboa park and just enjoy the time away from the heat! So, in case Will's laptop doesn't get a connection at our hotel....I'll update about our trip next week....stay tuned.

...more than meets the eye

This is Jaden's most recent prized possesion!!!! Best $5 spent. He hasn't put the book down since I bought it last week. He loves, loves, loves the transformers!!! Will is so very pleased too. This book is one of those seek and find books. It makes a FABULOUS Sunday book for church! We have one similar that is tonka trucks, but this one has now replaced that one. In fact, it is so popular that the 13 yr old boy sitting in front of us at church on Sunday made his older sister turn around and borrow it from us so he could look at it! I wish I had my camera so I could have captured the look on his face when he got the book in his hands! He was like a little boy on Christmas morning! Classic. Great book for all those little transformer fans out there!

reminiscing...

So today I decided to clean up the computer a bit since all of our pics have been here and there and everywhere with the digital age of uploading pics. Finally got them all sorted out. I came across some old pics of when Will and I were still dating. Wow, the fun times we had! Oregon coast, his surprise visit down here just before Christmas, hanging out with the Steyskals in Oregon, San Fran....fun fun fun!! We really miss Oregon A LOT! So anyway, just thought I'd share some of the fun we had while we were dating. Look how small Mariah was!!! Wasn't she so cute and innocent?!?

Fun Night....High School Musical 2

Last night at our house was an exciting night! Mariah had been looking forward for MONTHS to the premeire of High School Musical 2! So we were ready for the night with banana smoothies, popcorn and a friend over! Does it get any better than that!? I think not. Jaden was equally as excited too! A few weeks ago Jaden asked me if he could watch High School Musical out of the blue....how funny is that? He's 3! Maybe he'll be the next Zac Efron? lol Mariah even was decked out in her new HSM t-shirt. (if you notice in the last pic you can see Easton was even in on the fun between Mariah and Jaden) Now I'm sure we'll HAVE to get the new soundtrack to the movie next!

(here is Mariah right after she got home from school yesterday and discovered how cool her mom was!)

who needs silverware???

Why in the world do kids want to play outside in this disgusting heat!!??!! Normally, I don't let them, but Easton kinda snuck out back while daddy was busting *ahem* fixing a water line. (can you see the snot running down his nose??? ewwww) This is the first time he's actually played in this fun car. He loved it. Yep, with no shoes on. I'm sooooo ready for some cooler weather! And for some fun bike rides!

Who's the coolest mom in the world!?

Oh yah, that would be ME! lol j/k, not really. But when Mariah gets home from school today she is not only gonna be thrilled JUST because High School Musical 2 (yippee) premieres tonight, BUT her way nice mom bought her the coolest lunch bag!!!! Yay Mervyns on sale for $5! She was in need of a lunch bag since the stupid MPS lunch people haven't gotten the program together yet and Mariah has been taking her lunch to school lately. Will was ecstatic to see what I bought (note the sarcasim). I thought it was pretty dang cute and not too shabby in price. I can't wait to see the look on Mariah's face!

A Must Have Book!

If you don't yet own this book and you have little ones.....I suggest you purchase it! The Steyskal family introduced this book to my kids a few years ago and they just love this book! Jaden has been wanting this book read to him over and over lately. It has been a long time favorite for many. It's a really cute book.

Okay, Okay....I'll play

i got this from Tammy!

1st grade teacher: Mrs. Burro
Color of First Bike: the one I specifically remember was red with red/white checker accesories (total tomboy!)
First Crush: honestly, I think it was Rico Real in kindergarten! lol
First Job: Comet 1hr Cleaners
First Airplane Ride: Hmmm, probably around 10 or 11? Went to CA, Disneyland with fam
First Car: Honda CRX, white hatchback. My dad bought it with a salvaged title and fixed it back up at the shop
First Speeding Ticket: **KNOCK ON WOOD** none...yet. *crossing fingers*
First Date: Russell Martin. My first "love"/infatuation. He was 19, I was 14. Eeeek. He took me out to Swenson's Ice Cream Parlor after my softball game, I got the "Mr. Sanfranciso". Then we went to the park and sat and talked. When he drove me home that's when I got my FIRST kiss ever! I didn't sleep a wink the whole night!! And it didn't help that my dad found out who I had been out with (mom was out of town). I was so busted!
First House: technically it was with my Ex, aka Moron, out in East Mesa which he still lives in. I was nice and "gave" it to him in the divorce.
First Gray Hair: back in high school. Now they are EVERYWHERE!!!

Consider yourself tagged if you're reading this now!

naughty little boy

This little boy you see here was very naughty tonight. He found a roll of toilet paper as you can see.
And with the help of his older brother egging him on, he had a lot of fun dragging it throughout the house. But, in all fairness, after the fun was done, I caught Easton picking up after himself! He was picking up piece by piece and throwing it in the thrash in front of him. Too cute!

And then there was big sister who took advantage of the situation and "doctored" up Jaden! lol

Happy Belated Mothers Day

Back on Mothers Day this year William decided to buy Melanie a bike, or, so really just put the bike on layaway because of our financial situation. Sooooooo, today we finally paid it off and Melanie has her brand new shiny bike! hOoRaY!! We have loved going for family bike rides in the past while Melanie had borrowed her mom's bike, but it has now been loaned to Kamry who lives out of town. So the family bike rides have come to a halt for a little while now, plus it's just been too crazy hot to enjoy a bike ride with the family. But now we praying for some cooler weather real soon so we can take the new bike out for a test drive! It's an awesome bike! Soooo comfortable too! I feel like a little kid at Christmas time! So happy late Mothers day....finally! (better late than never!!!)

bummer

During the boys bathtime tonight, Easton slipped and hit his mouth on the tub. Yep, you guessed it....chipped tooth (top front tooth)! Bummer. I'm sad because now his once cute little baby tooth is now damaged. It won't ever be the same for pictures! How sad. This same thing happened to Mariah when she was a baby and as she got older the chip got bigger and bigger and decayed with juice and what not. She finally got hers fixed when she was 3.5 yrs old. I don't want to wait that long with Easton but what can really be done about it now? I'm sure a dentist will just say it's a baby tooth and not worry til it falls out. I dunno? Maybe I'll try calling a pediatric dentist in the morning?

On a side note, before this happened Easton had just been on one ALL evening long!!! Crying non-stop. Literally. Nothing was good enough for him. Will and I were about to rip our hair out! Sometimes that kid is just more than the two of us can handle! Sure he's cute, but man he's a hellion. You could say he went to bed still screaming. Let's just pray that he sleeps well tonight and the morning will bring some happy moments instead of crying, frustrating moments! Wishful thinking?!? Let's hope not.

WOOHOO

Just got a call from the preschool that Jaden was on a waiting list for.....and he got in!!! Yay!!! Apparently there was one child that didn't get potty trained this summer, so that left one open spot for Jaden! SOooooo excited. Sad that for some other moms unfortunate event we had something fortunate for us. Oh well, life goes on. And more perfectly the schedule that was open will probably work out great for us too....even better! Yay! So now we will have 2 schoolers in our household. Even though Jaden's preschool is only 2 days a week for 2 hours per day, that's okay by mommy! Woohoo.

our three little monkeys

Whoa! So we all know that Mariah did NOT get her skin from her mother!!! We do, however, know that the boys DID get both their mother and fathers skin! Poor white boys! Dang, Mariah is b-r-o-w-n!!! (don't mind J in his tighty whities...spongebob nontheless!)

Aren't big sisters fun!?!

You can see by the pictures just how thrilled Jaden was!!! Actually I think he was fine up until Mariah brought him out to show us! The two of them were playing together in Mariah's room. Apparently, Mariah dressed Jaden up in her flower girl dress she wore at our wedding when she was 4 yrs old! I can honestly say he wouldn't make a pretty little girl! Thank goodness he's a boy!! He was NOT thrilled that mommy had to take pics just for blogging fun!! ha ha ha

First day of school

Yay! Mariah was really excited to go back to school today! She got up first thing on her own actually right at 7am. I'm excited like most of the other moms to get back on a schedule although it was nice to be on the lazy schedule during summer. Mariah got home from school today and said she had a good first day which makes me happy! So yay for school starting!!!

boring uneventful weekend

Not a whole lot going on in our household this weekend. Friday night we spent the evening doing some school shopping for Mariah. Got that pretty much accomplished. Saturday we bummed around the house all day but met with Dendi and family at the Tempe splash park in the early evening. That was fun and the kids had a blast, although I left there pretty pissed!!! We had taken the kids clothes with us to change into so they wouldn't have to drive home in their wet clothes. Jaden and Easton both had really cute matching t-shirts from Old Navy I had JUST bought the night before (2 for $12 bargain!). So went to change the boys and realized Easton's outfit was no where to be found!!!! I thought maybe it was in the car or maybe it fell out at home before we left....NOPE!!! Someone from the park STOLE IT FROM OUR BAG!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO irritated!!!!! I have a feeling I know who did it too which makes me more angry!!!! So now we no longer have matching t-shirts! Bummer!

Today we got up for early church and went to our new ward for the first time. Gotta say we are all loving it!!!!! It's a MUCH bigger ward and the people were awesome and so very friendly. I think this will be a great new ward! More girls for Mariah and more boys for Jaden! So we're looking forward to getting to know the new peeps.

Tonight was spent getting back into school mode. Mariah and Jaden (just for fun) both got priesthood blessings for the new school year from Will. Mariah is quite excited to start school which makes us happy! I'm excited to get back on schedule too, but will kinda miss the sleeping in and being lazy days as well. Oh well....summer schedule is now officially over. Wish the summer heat would just be over now! It has been sooooo dreaded HOT this weekend. Looking forward to the cooler weather for sure!

Meet Oreo. He is one of our two cats. He awaits for me to go to bed each night so that he can share my pillow with me! Keyword being "share". As you can see he takes up most of the pillow! He literally sleeps there all night long until I wake up in the morning. I'm starting to think I need a bigger pillow! What do you think?

Monday, August 6, 2007

Easton hasn't been feeling well since yesterday. This was him today while eating his snack. None of our kids have ever fallen asleep in the highchair. Easton would be the first. He still had raisins in his mouth too, ewwww.

Whoville?

So I had to put this pic up because it was so hilarious! Mariah decided to "fix" my hair last night while family was over and this was the result. We were laughing pretty hard. I look like I could belong to Dr. Seuss' Whoville! And yes, it literally was standing straight up!!

Hallelujah!!!

Welllllll, remember the broken down car from last week???? It is now running AND has cold working a/c to top it off!!!! We weren't sure if the fixing the bad part would also fix the a/c, but luckily it did. It took all day Saturday and all day today and night, but a HUGE thanks to Ben, Joseph, Jonathon, (Jaden), and Scott for helping Will get it fixed!!!!! Will could not have ever done it without the help of these men! What troopers! Once again, I'm so thankful for awesome friends! And I know with fixing the car ourselves we definitely saved some big buckaroos from taking it to the mechanic. Yay! I know Will is so relieved to have his a/c working again! Now we pray it is good to go for awhile at least!

I had to add this picture for kicks! After Ben and Will were finished and came inside to wash up we found Jaden out in the porch "trying" to lift the van!! LOL

Bourne Ultimatum

If you haven't seen it yet, YOU HAVE TO GO!!! We got to see it last night at the new Cine Capri theater! Way awesome although our seats kinda sucked. But it was completely thriller! I won't ruin anything so all I have to say is go if you haven't yet!

Bittersweet news

Well during sacrament meeting today the bishop announced that our ward and three other wards in the stake were being HIGHLY urged to attend a short meeting tonight hosted by our stake president. We were not able to attend because we had family over celebrating Darren's birthday. Can you guess the news? Yep, the wards were realigned and, sadly, our ward that we just moved into not long ago was completely removed and distributed into the three other wards. I'm a bit sad about it only because some of the good friends we met are now in the other wards. It's bittersweet. It will be good to be in the new ward so that we can meet new friends there though. LUCKILY, we have the cool Princes, Smiths and Allens in our ward still....yay! The Princes came over tonight and gave us the new layout. I'm a little bummed and a little excited. I guess I don't like change so much. I was just getting in my comfort zone. And, sadly today I had to leave church early because Easton wasn't feeling so well and was just plain difficult so I don't feel like I got a "farewell" goodbye. And last week I had to substitute in nursery so I didn't really get to see anyone last week either. Oh well. I guess there's no looking back now. Only moving forward! I hope we can make new friends and adjust well in our new ward starting next week!!!

We are happy to say

After almost 3 months of going without a cell phone.....We are now back up and running!!! YAY!! We can finally be back in touch with the world! And boy would it have been useful to have had our phones working earlier this week with all of our car troubles! Oh well, they are now on and we are sooooo excited! We can text and pix message again....how fun!!! Oh the little things in the life ;)

Just some good useful information

I got this email from a friend tonight and confirmed with Snopes.com

YOU MUST KNOW *77
I knew about the red light on cars, but not the *77. It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.

Lauren had actually listened to her parent s advice, and promptly called *77 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.

Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car >behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.

I never knew about the *77 Cell Phone Feature, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect y our right to keep going to a safe & quiet place. You obviously need to make some signals that you acknowledge them (i.e. put on your hazard lights) or call *77 like Lauren did.

Too bad the cell phone companies don't generally give you this little bit of wonderful information. *Speaking to a service representative at **Bell** Mobility confirmed that *77 was a direct link to state trooper info. So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about *77.

SNOPES.COM SAYS THIS:
Dialing *77 on your cell phone will connect you with highway patrol:
TRUE in some states, FALSE in others.

(oh but crap, I just noticed a discripency in my email story and that on snopes...I'm not sure now if it's *77 OR #77????????) Guess I have some researching to do!

When it rains it pours

What a day! Or, really, what a week. It has been our turn for car troubles this week and today was the topper. First, on Monday Will came home and said that his car was acting funny. He was wondering if it was the battery. He drives my old Sentra and I told him I thought it had been awhile since we put a new battery in, so we kinda figured that's what it was. And Monday evening the van's brakes were making a bit of noise after the rain storm but just thought maybe because they had gotten wet.

Tuesday, Will leaves his first job and on his way to his second job the radio starts going on and off. Upon getting ready to leave his second job to come home for the day his car won't start. Bummer. I called my brother Scott at the shop and he got us the hookups for a new battery at wholesale price from Interstate batteries. Cha-ching. So, Will's boss was able to jump start his car with cabless so he could drive directly to Interstate and purchase the new battery and have it installed. No such luck. The car died about a 1/4 mile from his destination and of course we are without our cell phones still, so he got the car into a nearby parking lot and decided to walk the rest of the way to the battery place and make his purchase (mind you I forgot to tell you that Will's cars a/c went out about a month ago!) So he walked back to the car with the new battery and a man at a nearby business was kind enough to let Will use his cell phone so that he could call me at home and give me the latest news. So I called Scott at the shop to see if Darren could drive down and bring the correct tools so Will could install the battery and be on his way. Darren was tied up doing a big estimate so Scott sent someone else and was very helpful! (thank you Scott!) All this time poor Will was out in the hot sun and then had to get back in a hot, un-airconditioned car! Yuck.

That brings us to Tuesday evening. We got in the car to run up to Target real quick before we had to go pick Mariah up from her dads. On our way to Target the brakes in the van sounded AWFUL!!! They were grinding really bad. To the point it was embarrasing and we knew we probably shouldn't even be driving the car anymore. We decided that the van needed to get into the mechanic ASAP!

Wednesday morning Will calls the mechanic to arrange for us to bring the van in. Got that done first thing in the morning. Thanks to Samantha she was able to follow me to the shop and bring me and the kids back home!

Thursday late morning Samantha drove me back to the mechanic so I could pick the van up. $150 (not bad) later we have new brakes that don't grind anymore. Yay! About 10 minutes after arriving home I get a call from an unfamiliar phone number. It is Will. He is broken down again!!! He had gone to get some lunch real quick and his car died in a parking lot. Ugh. At this point he was pretty sure it had to be the alternator. Great. Luckily, Samantha was still here visiting and the kids were playing so she offered to stay with the kids while I went to rescue Will. We jumped his car and decided to try and drive it to the mechanic's shop where it could be assesed. I followed closely behind and the car died 4 different times in which we would pull over and re-jump the car each time. Sounds pretty stupid right? Well, to some yes, but we were trying to avoid a towing bill. The new battery and new brakes were already out of budget, so the headache of having additional car repair costs was a bit of added stress....especially JUST when we felt like we were finally starting to "get our heads above water" financially. Well, after the fourth time of the car dying we decided to ditch it and head home and try to solve our problem there.

After returning home this afternoon Will got on the phone and tried to round someone up with a truck and tow-straps to help him bring his car home where he decided he'd try to replace the alternator himself. Ben was awesome and came right over. While the boys were out Kim and her girls came over to hang out while the guys would be hard at work. And let me say, hard at work they were!! On the way home from towing the car, the strap snapped at a nearby intersection and the guys pushed the car the rest of the way home and Ben went back to pick his truck up. I'm not so sure Ben knew what hard work he was in for. Luckily, Ben had a pretty good knowledge with vehicles and mechanics and together they decided it wasn't the alternator afterall and maybe just a missing belt. We thought that maybe it would end up being less than the alternator expense which would be way cool! Nope. They soon figured out (after a few hours of working out in the horrid heat) that it was more than just a belt. A few phone calls later, and the repair was going to cost us more than what the alternator would have been. Unfortunately, the few places that had the parts they needed would be closed before the guys could get there. Another bummer, but I'm hoping maybe a blessing in disguise? We will try to call Scott in the morning to see if he can possibly order the part we need for a better price and get it by end of close tomorrow so Will can spend his Saturday trying to fix his car and get it running again...even if it sill doesn't have working a/c.

Right now we cannot possibly survive with one car. It just won't work, so somehow we'll have to play with our funds and at least get the Sentra driveable again. Ya think we are being tried?? Just a little. But, we can say after our day today that we were VERY blessed to have some very helpful friends!!! I'm not quite sure what we would have done without them?

The guys were totally beat after working for hours out in the heat (even Jaden was out "helping" the guys). Kim and I had gotten dinner done for the kids and us. I'm sure Ben and Kim were relieved when they finally got to go home ;)

I am trying to stay as positive as I can about this situation. I know we all have our trials. I just wish that sometimes our trials could go on hiatus for awhile! But I also know that what we overcome makes us that much stronger. Soooo, cheers to our trials?!???
