Bedtime

So is it just our household, or does anyone else have the same problem of fighting with your kids to go to bed EVERY NIGHT!???!!! Will and I are both so sick and tired of this same old fight each and every night. All 3 of our kids moan and groan, and kick and scream, and cry and fight at bedtime every night, day in and day out. No matter what the threats are. We're getting very tired of it! It's becoming so frustrating because it's not like this is something that doesn't happen consistently at our house. EVERY night they KNOW they have to go to bed. Same routine.....bath time, jammies on, scripture reading and prayer, teeth brushed.....then off to bed! Come on...what don't they understand? Or better, what are we doing wrong??? We have 2 very frustrated parents in this house by the time we do get our screaming/whining kids IN bed! Ugh. The joys of a parent!

ok well , we send our kids to their room. they can stay up but they can't come out and they can't bug anyone else. and they have to get up in time to go to school and not be late. some of our kids fall asleep as soon as they hit the pillow, and others stay up super late reading, they all get up before me though. and it eliminates the struggle. they take a water bottle to bed for their nightstand. and that eliminates the whole i need a drink crap. and their bedtime is based on if they did thier homework or their chore. it is 7:30 to begin with, if they do homework it is 8 and if they do a chore too it is 8:30. how late they get to stay up is based on their choices. it works for us. some of them stay up late , but no one is allowed out to bug us. and really that is all i care about. my free time to relax.

Sounds like Jules has it all worked out.! That, in ways, makes the kids feel like they are in charge.. The water bottle on the nightstand idea sounds like a good one as long as you don't have bed wetters-- LOL.. Good luck with the bed time frustrations!! I don't have to deal with that just yet!!

My boys constantly mess around upstairs if I don't go up and put a stop to it. Or even if they're in bed watching TV, they won't have brushed their teeth, like I told them to, and like they have to do every night. Drives me crazy, too!

Sorry No advice, Corbin has always been really good about this, and while Gavin screams when I say the words Bed Time, he still races me down the hall so he "can turn the music on first".
