Got Dirt?

This actually happened a couple of weeks ago, but I recently got the pics from my camera uploaded to the pc. My friend Samantha was over with her two kids, Nathan and Emma. Nathan is just a bit younger than Jaden and Emma is just younger than Easton. Anyway, all of the boys were out back playing in the dirt with shovels and dump trucks. Samantha and I are inside having a conversation when we hear Easton crying. We get out back to find Nathan shoveling dirt onto Easton's head. I have to admit, instead of rushing to him and helping him get the dirt out of his eyes...I ran back into the house busting up just to get my camera!!! lol I couldn't resist. And these pictures don't do the justice of what he really looked like. Samantha immediately disciplined Nathan but I just told her not to worry that "boys will be boys". Needless to say, I decided a bath was the best route. His hair was a wig of dirt and the bath water was a bit muddy. Easton wasn't too happy about the experience but his mom (and Samantha too) got a good laugh out of it. I'm sure you will too ;)

Re-cap of Thanksgiving

Gosh, time flies!!! Thanksgiving has come and gone and we are now in the Christmas season no. Anyway, this year for Thanksgiving we hosted the event at our house. It turned out really nice too! The weather was perfect, food was yummy and kids had a blast. We ate dinner outside since the weather was so gorgeous and we had more room to spread out. After we ate, Grandma got out the sugar cookies she made for all the kids to decorate. They had a blast! And they spent the whole day and night outside playing and running off their energy. Mariah was hilarious and played "photographer" all day and maintained the little kids all day too! It was fabulous. The guys perched themselves on the couch watching football while us women scoped out the black Friday ads. Thanksgiving was really great this year, despite the fact we missed out on going to Sacramento like originally planned. I'm glad we had it at our place this year and actually look forward to next year! Here are lots of memories from our fun Turkey Day of 2007....

Thankful For...

I feel like I would be ungrateful if I didn't take the opportunity to post what I am thankful for at this time of year filled with traditions and festivities and love.

*I am thankful for the Gospel. That it was restored through our prophet Joseph Smith and what a great man he was. That he translated the scriptures so that we now have teachings of old and new to use in our everyday lives. I am so thankful to be a member of the true church and live in these latter days.

*I am thankful for a wonderful husband and father of my children! For the sacrifices he makes working two jobs AND going to school. His days are loooong. I cannot express enough appreciation for that sacrifice he makes just to provide for our family. He is kind, loving, and very supportive and I love him for that too.

*I am thankful to be blessed with three very beautiful and healthy children. For the smiles and laughs they provide me each and everyday even when at times they can drive me crazy.

*I am thankful for family and friends. For the support they provide at any given time. Whether it be an ear to lend, or a car to lend, or watching my kids while mom and dad can have a night out, and just being there and loving me unconditionally.

*I am thankful for my freedom and to live in the good ole USA. I am thankful for the service men and women who fight for my freedom and sacrifice their lives for me and my family.

*I am thankful for hot water. Well, really I am thankful for running water mostly. For the modern day conveniences I take advantage of each and everyday.

*I am thankful for a roof over my head. A home to live in. The Spirit who dwells in my home. The safety it provides.

*I am thankful for my bike and my bike trailer.

*I am thankful for the plan of salvation. I am thankful for my forever family. I am thankful for temples.

The Lord has blessed me in many ways. Although lately we have had our share of trials, I know I have much more than many people can even dream. I am thankful for everything that I do have. And I hope everyone is thankful at this time of year as well.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!

Jaden's turn...

Apparently Jaden was feeling left out of the "injury" department! j/k. Late yesterday afternoon while Will had just finished up mowing the backyard and I was pushing Easton in his tree swing, I heard Jaden from inside the house let out a cry that told me he was hurt. I ran in just a tad too late to see what had actually happened but to see him between the fireplace and our big toy bin holding his eye....blood started dripping down immediately. I picked him up and took him out back quickly to show Will and assess the situation. He had definitely split his eyelid open. I wasn't sure if it needed stitching or not, but Will seemed to think it did, so we headed off to urgent care. After we arrived a nurse came out to the waiting room to take a peek and see if there was anything she could do for him there. Apparently with the delicate location of the laceration and his age, she thought it would probably be best if we took him to the ER and had him stitched up there. We really didn't want to have to go that route if we didn't have to. So we decided to take him back to a room where the nurse could clean the wound up a bit and assess it more closely to see if we could possibly avoid stitches as we know how traumatic that can be for a 3 year old. A closer look revealed that Jaden had an excellent "clean line" cut that could probably be fixed with simple steri-strips. So, that's what we decided to do rather than papoose him up and torture him with a numbing needle and stitching it up. The nurse put a bandaid over the cut until we got to the pharmacy to purchase some steri-strips. Jaden was SUCH a good sport thru the whole thing. In fact he didn't even cry once at urgent care. The WORST part was actually taking the stupid bandaid off so that we could put the steri-strip on!! If you look closely you can see where the bandaid was over his eye....it was one sticky bandaid!

Hopefully we're done with injuries for quite a while!!!
